For over 50 years, Thrush agricultural spray aircraft have been recognized as the finest product in the industry. The Thrush brand originated in the 1960’s when North American Rockwell purchased the product line of Snow Aeronautical. The first Thrush took flight in 1966 and was equipped with a 600 horsepower radial engine and a 400 gallon hopper. This launched Thrush’s long and colorful history, and helped lead the AG spray industry into a new age which featured aircraft equipped with larger hoppers and more powerful engines.
North American Rockwell manufactured the 400 gallon Thrush in Olney, Texas, until it moved the production line to Albany, Georgia in 1970. At the peak of production between 1973 and 1975, a Thrush aircraft rolled out the factory’s doors every day.
In 1976, Thrust delivered its’ first turbine powered Thrush.
In 1979, Thrush became the first manufacturer to build an AG aircraft with a 500 gallon hopper.
Since 1966, more than 3,000 Thrush aircraft have been delivered. The current worldwide fleet of Thrush aircraft consists of over 2,200 aircraft, including more than 1,500 turbine powered aircraft. Thrush aircraft operate in more than 80 countries, and major Thrush operators include such familiar names as Dole Fresh Fruit, Del Monte Fresh Fruit, Group Wong, FumiPalma and many governments around the world.
Thrush Aircraft, Inc. acquired the production rights for the Thrush product line in June 2003. Our headquarters and production facility are located in Albany, Georgia, where we occupy a 227,000 square foot office/manufacturing complex. Our factory is equipped with a full complement of sophisticated machinery including water jet, laser cutter, CNC brake, CNC machining centers, tuning centers, roll form, hydro form, punch presses, heat treat, age, chemical treat processing, and much more. Our veteran labor force has experience dating back to the mid-1960's, including all phases of design, tooling production, planning, product manufacturing, product support, and customer service.
Today, Thrush aircraft perform a variety of missions beyond traditional crop spraying and fertilization. For example, Thrush aircraft are used for sowing rice, feeding shrimp, top dressing timber, fire bombing, mosquito control, and special operations relating to drug eradication and surveillance.
Thrush has a long history in the AG industry as a dependable, economical, innovative, and rugged work horse. Thrush Aircraft continues to be the aircraft of choice for many aerial spray operators throughout the world. For more information about Thrush Aircraft, visit our website at www.thrushaircraft.com .
