Textron AirLand LLC a division of Textron Inc has developed a highly affordable and exportable twin engine strike/ISR trainer jet for the tactical military aviation market. The Scorpion was designed as a multi mission aircraft with diverse capabilities including battlefield operations, security, training missions, precision strike, intelligence and surveillance.

The scorpion Jet was introduced in 2013 during a press conference at the Air Force Association Air and Space conference in National Harbor, Maryland. The aircraft features include twin engine power, dual pilot operation, large internal payload capacity, high definition ISR cameras, wing mounted weapons stations, modern avionics and a fully composite structure. Since the Scorpions début in December 2013, the scorpion has accumulated significant accomplishments within the first 17 months.

The Scorpion has logged over 400 flight hrs and has completed its first trans –Atlantic roundtrip flight covering over 9,200 nautical miles. ” Operation Vigilant guard 2014” was the first real military exercise for the Scorpion and it excelled in every category. “We began development of the Scorpion in 2012 with the objective to design, build and fly the world’s most affordable tactical jet. We relied on commercial best practices to develop a tactical jet platform with flexibility and capabilities found only in far more costly aircraft” said Textron CEO Scott Donnelly.
